New robotics course in Fall 2015 semester

In the Fall 2015 semester, I taught a new special topics course on robotics (CS 5070). The course was graduate level but many undergraduates took the course as a junior- or senior-year technical elective. So, we had a great mix of 25 students, some B.S., some M.S., and some Ph.D., and from all engineering departments (CS, EE and ME).

The course covered the following topics:

VR 2014 Video

This is the accompanying video to our paper, "Global Localization from Monocular SLAM on a Mobile Phone" which was presented at the 2014 IEEE Virtual Reality Conference (VR 2014) in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

ISMAR 2012 Video

This is the accompanying video to our paper, "Wide-Area Scene Mapping for Mobile Visual Tracking" which was presented at the 2012 International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR'12) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Indoor AR Demo Video

This augmented reality demo was presented at the Media Arts and Technology End of Year Show / Four Eyes Lab Open House, May 2012 at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Using software developed for my Ph.D. dissertation, the iPad tracks the scene on the table and augments it with a virtual building model. (Did you notice that the Arc de Triomphe is not really there?)
